03 June 2008

With today's press-conference in Ukrainian Cultural Center in Paris (around 100 journalists attending) and the following reception for more than 200 invited guests, whereof notable Robert Hossein (for whom Ukraine is somewhat historic homeland, with his mother born and raised in Kyiv), Jean-Marc Barr (great actor and great friend of Molodist too), Bernard Farcy (popular in Ukraine after his "Taxi"s) and Didier Marouani (Space being one of the first "western" groups to tour Ukraine then still in the Soviet Union), Ukrainian Cinema Foundation, Nemiroff company and Kyiv IFF Molodist opened the Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Paris. The Festival screenings will be held at La Filmotheque from June 4 to June 10.
"Two in One" - the opening film will be personally presented by director Kira Muratova to Parisian press and public, as well as her debut feature "Brief Encounters" and her latter work - short "Kukla". Director Kira Muratova and scenarist Yevgeniy Golubenko will be honourable guests of the Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Paris, as well as director Roman Balayan (who will also present his cinema debut "Biryuk" and new film "Bright is the Night").
